Why Repetition Is Important

Reading and spelling are skills that students use for their entire lives. So teaching a “rule of the week” and then moving on is not effective. A high-quality reading program provides students with repetitive exposure to the material taught until concepts are overlearned. By overlearning material, students will be more successful at retrieving and applying what they’ve learned when we’re not at the front of the room.
